History & Hope

Edged by the Cooper and Wando rivers, the Cainhoy peninsula has a unique history spanning Indigenous settlements, colonial-era plantations, freedman properties, and elite sporting camps. Cainhoy’s Lowcountry landscape and waterscape includes historic Black communities and significant ecological and archaelogical sites.

And today, Newbrook joins a growing network of neighborhoods, businesses, nature trails, parks, bikeways and roadways that are connecting the mixed-use Point Hope community. The recently-opened Philip Simmons’ public schools are already gaining acclaim, and major employers in the tech, medical, creative, and shipping industries are near.

or herons wading near the shore?
That just may be your everyday.
